Intelligence

AI, on your terms

Newsbin's intelligence features are optional and private: run them on-device with Apple Intelligence, or bring your own API key.

Updated

Newsbin 2.0 adds a set of optional, private intelligence features that help you read, then get out of the way. They’re all opt-in, and you’re always in control of which engine powers them.

Intelligence features are entirely optional. When they’re off, Newsbin works exactly as it always has: no summaries, tags, or suggestions are generated.

Choosing a provider

In Settings → Intelligence, pick how Newsbin’s AI features run:

  • Apple Intelligence — runs on your device, on supported hardware and OS versions. Nothing leaves your device.
  • Your own API key — bring a key from a provider like Anthropic’s Claude for higher-quality results. Requests go directly from your device to that provider, using your key.

Either way, your reading is never routed through Xetabit’s servers or used to profile you.

Turning features on and off

Every intelligence feature is individually optional. Turn any of them off and your existing summaries, tags, and suggestions are kept, but no new ones are generated.

Privacy

Intelligence features process your content on your device, or through the provider you choose with your own key. Your reading isn’t uploaded to us or used to build a profile. See Privacy for more.
