Backup & export
Your data is always portable — export your feeds as OPML, or move your whole database between devices.
Updated
No lock-in is a core principle of Newsbin. Your subscriptions and your library are always yours to take with you.
Export your feeds (OPML)
You can export your feed subscriptions as a standard OPML file at any time from Settings. That file works with essentially every other RSS reader, so you’re never stuck.
This is also the file to keep as a lightweight backup of what you follow.
Export / import your full database
For a complete transfer — feeds, folders, tags, smart groups, read state and all — Newsbin can export your entire database to a file and import it on another device.
This is the fastest way to bring a new device fully up to speed without waiting for the initial iCloud sync to finish:
- On the source device, export the database from Settings.
- Move the file to the new device (AirDrop, Files, iCloud Drive — your choice).
- Import it in Newsbin on the new device.
iCloud then keeps both devices in sync from there. For two devices in the same room, Nearby sync can do this transfer directly.
Good backup habits
- Keep a recent OPML export somewhere safe so your subscription list is never at risk.
- Before a big change (a major reorganization, switching devices), a quick database export is cheap insurance.
