- What is Postout?
- Postout turns one idea into a starting draft for every place you post, each sized to fit and written in that platform's style. A personality profile you build from ten quick questions keeps every draft in your own voice. It's native on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro. New here? Start with Your first draft.
- Does Postout post to my accounts?
- No. Postout never connects to, signs in to, or publishes on any social network. It writes drafts, copies them to your clipboard, and can open the site you post on. The last step is always yours. See Copy, open, and post.
- How much does Postout cost?
- Postout is free for seven days with everything included. After that, a single one-time purchase unlocks it for good on every device signed in to your Apple Account, with Family Sharing included. There's no subscription, and your drafts, history and settings are never locked. See Pricing and unlocking.
- I'm testing the TestFlight beta. Will I be charged?
- No. The beta runs the same free week as the App Store version, and when it ends the unlock is a sandbox purchase in TestFlight, so you aren't charged. Going through it helps test the real purchase flow. A TestFlight purchase doesn't carry over to the App Store release. See Joining the TestFlight beta.
- How do I send feedback on the beta?
- On iPhone or iPad, take a screenshot in Postout and tap Share Beta Feedback. On Mac, open TestFlight, select Postout, and click Send Beta Feedback. You can also use the contact form. I read everything.
- Do I need an API key?
- Not if your device supports Apple Intelligence. Postout can draft entirely on device, for free. For higher-quality writing, especially long-form posts, add your own API key for Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, or a custom OpenAI-compatible endpoint. See Choosing an AI provider.
- Can I use my ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro subscription?
- No. Chat subscriptions don't include API access. Postout needs an API key from the provider's developer console, which is billed separately by usage. A key doesn't require a chat subscription either. See Adding an API key.
- How much will my API usage cost?
- That's between you and your provider, and it's usually very little. A draft is a short request, so each one typically costs a fraction of a cent to a few cents depending on the model and how many platforms you draft for. Most provider consoles let you set a monthly spending cap. Postout itself never charges per draft.
- Is Postout private?
- Yes. There's no account, no tracking, and no analytics. Your idea, profile, and platform instructions go directly from your device to the provider you chose, under your own key, and never through Xetabit. With Apple Intelligence, nothing leaves your device. Keys live in the Keychain. See Privacy and the full Privacy Policy.
- Which platforms does Postout support?
- Twenty-three built-in templates: X, Bluesky, Threads, Mastodon, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, Medium, Substack, Dev.to, Reddit, Hacker News, YouTube, TikTok, Twitch, Vimeo, LinkedIn, GitHub, Slack, Discord, Telegram, Facebook and Patreon. Each is a writing style and character limit, not an account connection. You can edit any of them or create your own. See Platforms and templates.
- Will my drafts sound like AI wrote them?
- Postout works hard to avoid it. Your personality profile shapes every draft, and a cleanup pass removes common AI tells like em-dashes and stray markdown after the text comes back, not just in the instructions. Still, read every draft and add the details only you know. See How Postout keeps drafts clean.
- Does Postout sync between my devices?
- Yes, through your own iCloud account. Drafts, platforms, topics, tone tags and your personality profile sync automatically. API keys stay on each device unless you turn on iCloud Keychain sync in Settings → Models. See iCloud sync.
- What can Postout do on Apple Watch?
- Read your drafts, capture a new idea by dictation, edit a post, and share or delete drafts. Drafting with AI happens on your iPhone, iPad or Mac, or by asking Siri. See Apple Watch.
