Joining the TestFlight beta

How to install the Postout beta, what to expect from test builds, how the free week and unlock work in TestFlight, and how to send feedback.

Updated

Thanks for testing Postout. The beta runs through Apple’s TestFlight app, and it’s the same app that will ship on the App Store, so what you report shapes version 1.0.

Installing the beta

  1. Install TestFlight from the App Store on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Vision Pro.
  2. Open the Postout invite link on that device and tap Accept, then Install.
  3. To test on Apple Watch, install the beta on your iPhone first. The watch app is installed from the Watch app on your iPhone, or automatically if you have automatic app installs turned on.

Each device installs its own copy through TestFlight. Your drafts sync between them through iCloud as long as they’re signed in to the same Apple Account.

What to expect

  • Builds update often. TestFlight notifies you when a new one is ready. Turn on automatic updates in TestFlight to stay current.
  • Builds expire. Each TestFlight build stops launching 90 days after it’s uploaded. Install the newest build before then.
  • Things will break. That’s the point of a beta. If something goes wrong, please tell me.

The free week and the unlock in TestFlight

Postout works the same way in TestFlight as it will on the App Store: seven days free, then a one-time unlock to keep creating new drafts. When your week ends, go through the purchase as normal. In TestFlight it’s a sandbox purchase, so you won’t be charged, and it tests the exact flow real customers will see.

Your drafts, history, and settings are never locked, trial or not. See Pricing and unlocking.

A TestFlight purchase doesn’t carry over to the App Store release. Once Postout launches, the App Store version has its own purchase.

Sending feedback

The best feedback includes what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead.

  • On iPhone or iPad: take a screenshot while Postout is open, tap the preview, then tap Share Beta Feedback. You can also open TestFlight, pick Postout, and tap Send Beta Feedback.
  • On Mac: open TestFlight, select Postout, and click Send Beta Feedback.
  • Anywhere: use the contact form and pick Bug report or Feature request.

If a build crashes, TestFlight will offer to send a crash report. Please say yes, and add a sentence about what you were doing.
