What is Postout?

Postout is a writing app for social posts, built natively in Swift for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro. You type an idea once, and Postout writes a draft for each platform you’ve turned on, sized to that platform’s character limit and written in its style. Then you read it, make it yours, and paste it where it’s going.

Postout never posts anything for you. It has no connection to any social network and never asks you to sign in to one. Drafts stop at your clipboard.

The core ideas

A few terms show up throughout the app:

• Compose bar: the field at the bottom of the window where you type an idea. Press Return (or tap Create) to draft.
• Platforms: the places you post. Each one has a writing style, a character limit, and a website to open. Pick from 23 built-in templates or make your own. See Platforms and templates.
• Personality profile: a short description of how you write, built from a ten-question questionnaire. It shapes every draft. See Your personality profile.
• Tone tags: one-off nudges like Casual, Professional, or Excited that steer a single draft without changing your profile. See Tone tags.
• Topics: labels that keep related drafts together and steer a draft toward a subject. See Topics.
• History: every draft you create, saved and searchable. See History, search, and filters.

What makes it different

• Your voice, not a chatbot’s. The personality profile and a cleanup pass that strips common AI tics mean drafts start closer to something you’d actually write. See How Postout keeps drafts clean.
• Bring your own AI. Postout has no model of its own. Use Apple Intelligence on device, or your own key for Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, or a custom endpoint. See Choosing an AI provider.

Postout gives you a starting point. Read every draft before you publish, fix anything that isn’t quite right, and add the details only you know. That last pass is what keeps your posts sounding like you.
